You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. - Matthew 5:14 (NLT).

It's hard to lead people when you're running on empty, because you can't pour into others from an empty cup. Over the last week, Shevon and I have been resting, recharging, and refilling our tanks (literally) on a motorcycle in the Black Hills of South Dakota. From Mount Rushmore and Iron Mountain Road to Custer State Park and Needles Highway, we have seen God's creation on display in magnificent fashion! Anyone who takes one look at God's handiwork in this part of the world cannot deny that there is a Master Creator behind it all!

But one thing has stood out to us this week: the bound, bruised, and broken are everywhere. I know we were supposed to be taking a break from our ministerial duties, but our calling isn’t dependent on a building. Our calling's only requirement is that we get the light that Jesus has put in our hearts out of us and into the world around us. We've anointed bikes with oil, prayed for people, handed out compasses, and had some pretty interesting Divine appointments with people that poured into us as much as we hopefully poured into them.

So, here's the question I have for everyone this week: Are you a product of your environment or is your environment a product of you? If we want to be representatives of Jesus Christ, then we have to represent Him at work, at home, and even on vacation. If the love of Jesus has been shed abroad in your hearts, then that love will splash on the people around you: at the gas station, at the hotel, and everywhere in between. There are no days off from being an ambassador of Jesus Christ. You might even find that there are other ambassadors out there working towards the same goal as you!

We handed compasses w/Bible verses on the back to two ladies in Rapid City, SD. As we were explaining to them that God's Word is the best compass we can have in life, one of the ladies handed us a little Jesus. She said she hands them out every chance she gets. She wasn’t the only one, either. There were people holding signs about Jesus, churches having breakfasts for bikers, and numerous faith-based organizations handing out water to weary travelers!

The bound, bruised, and broken may be everywhere, but there are also a few Christians out there, too! On this trip we got exactly what we were looking for: some much needed rest and some much-needed refreshing from other Christians just trying to be a light in a dark world. God Bless!
