Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me.” - Isaiah 6:8 (NLT).

From the earliest prophets to the apostles, God has always used ordinary people to carry His extraordinary message. The Apostle Paul’s testimony is well known among Christians and how he went from a Christian killer to the writer of 14 books in the New Testament. But as great as Paul was to the establishment of the 1^st century church, there are some other names mentioned in the Bible, whose roles are less known, but it could be said that their impact was just as powerful.

No, I’m not talking about Peter or James. I’m not talking about Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John. I’m talking about Phoebe, Tychicus, Onesimus, Epaphroditus, Silas, Timothy, Titus, Aristarchus, Erastus, and Gaius. These were the people who risked their lives to bring the Gospel message to new believers in the early churches. These messengers ensured that God’s Word was heard, read, and preached. They carried the Gospel message. Because of them, you and I are still reading the letters they carried. God used ordinary people who were equipped with nothing more than a willingness to be used.

The same mission continues today. You may never stand in a pulpit or write a letter to the churches, but you have been called to evangelize the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Each and every person reading this has been tasked with the same mission. If you claim to have been delivered, if you claim to have been redeemed, restored, and reborn, then you have been tasked with carrying the Gospel message to the lost and the undone people of this world. The bound, bruised, and broken are everywhere and it’s up to us to carry the message. It’s up to us to finish the mission. Jesus never promised His followers that carrying the message would be easy, or that it wouldn’t come at a cost. He did, however, promise to never leave us nor forsake us.

Shevon and I spend a lot of our time ministering to the abandoned, overlooked, and ignored. We are always looking for ways to reach more and more people, but we do get physically tired, emotionally drained, and spiritually depleted. We get our hearts broken often and a lot of days we think it would just be easier if we quit. Then we see the lights come on in the eyes of person who was hopeless and it makes us repeat the words, ‘Here I am. Send me.” 

The mission isn’t finished. How are you going to answer the call? Will you carry the message? Will you help finish the mission? Jesus will never ask more out of you than He is first willing to put into you! He will always make sure you have everything you need to be successful. Right now, He's still asking the same question he asked in Isaiah 6:8, "Who will go for us?" What's your answer going to be? God Bless!
