Compass Recovery November 2025

¹²⁵ I am thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.

¹²⁶ It is time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have made void thy law. - Psalm 119:125,126 (KJV).

One of the most liberating things I've ever done was realizing that there are just some things I need to step back from and let God go to work. Sometimes I get mixed up on what my role is. I try to take control of situations in my life and in doing so, I unintentionally leave God standing on the sidelines. I'm pretty sure that's not the way God intended for me to live a fully surrendered, totally dependent life for Him.

I think that's the point King David is trying to make with these two verses: Don't get your role reversed! He could've said 'I am King' or 'I am the leader of Your people' but instead, he simply says, "I am thy servant." The "they" he is referring to are the Israelites who were willfully rejecting everything that the Lord was telling them to do. David recognized that there are some things that he can't fix or control. There are just some things that only God can do. David humbled himself before the Lord and said, "It is time for thee, Lord, to work."

In April 2025, the attendance at Compass Recovery had dwindled down to 5-10 people coming. I tried everything. I invited people, advertised, and made phone calls. Nothing was working and I was on the verge of quitting. Then God sent one guy for me to help. I figured if the meeting could help one person, then it's worth continuing. Through that gentleman, I began focusing on the "one." The one who needs to hear about Jesus. The one who needs to know about the freedom that Jesus offers to everyone. The one who needs to hear how Jesus can make a difference in the most impossible of situations. I told the Lord that I would do my part by always looking for the "one," but I needed Him to do the rest. One plants, one waters, but it's always God who gives the increase (1 Cor. 3:7). I had gotten it twisted. I was trying to increase instead of planting and watering. Apart from Jesus I can do nothing (John 15:5).

We serve a Lord and Savior who is willing to roll up His sleeves and go to work on our messes, but we have to leave Him room to work. He doesn't need our help; He needs our surrender. What kind of problems are you dealing with? Unsaved family members? Financial problems? Legal trouble? Restoration for relationships? It's time for you to step aside, let go, and let God. Tell the Lord, "It's time for You to go to work." He's ready and waiting on you to humble yourself and ask. By the way, there's 75-100 people coming every week to Compass. I didn't make that happen...God did! Don't take my word for it, try it for yourself. He's a mountain mover! God Bless!
