Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! - Psalm 34:8 (NLT).
Goodbye 2025! As Shevon and I wrap up our 3rd consecutive calendar of being sober and living for God, I guess it really is true what they say: living for God only gets better and better with each passing year. It's one of those things that until you experience it firsthand, you just don't know for sure. No, it hasn't always been easy, and yes, there have been many ups and downs, but through it all, Jesus has walked beside us, gone before us, and even carried us when we couldn't take another step. We've tasted and we've seen that the Lord is good!
When I look back on 2025, it's easy to remember the highlights we experienced throughout the year: the establishment of Savage2Saint Ministries Inc as a nonprofit corporation; the growth of Compass Recovery; and all of the wonderful people who have contributed to helping us spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But it's the times we didn't talk about with other people that stick out the most in my mind. It's the days when we were under attack and it was hard to put on a smile. It's the times when we were wondering what the outcome was going to be when we were watching our kids go through trials we never wanted them to go through. It's when the days were dark and barely getting by was the only path we could see moving forward.
If we've learned anything this year, it's this: Jesus is still King and He reigns over the good days and the bad days, but especially the bad ones. He's the One who turns the page. He never left us and He never will. He was working when we didn't see it and He was working when we couldn't feel it. That's why living for God isn't about how we feel in the moment, or the circumstances we face, but it's about trusting Him with every area of our lives and learning to find refuge in Him when the storms of life strike. Yes, we've tasted and we've seen that the Lord is good, and we've found peace and joy in His refuge.
If you've tasted and seen that the Lord is good, then spend some time thanking Him for being the faithful God that He is. If you haven't, then don't take my word for it, come and have a taste for yourself. I believe that 2026 is going to be a year to remember for you! God Bless and Happy New Year!
