Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. - James 4:8 (NKJV).

Love is in the air! With Valentine's Day less than a week away, how does your relationship status read? Single? Married? In A Relationship? It's Complicated? We scan our social media apps to see whose relationship status might have changed, and no relationship has ever really started until it goes "Facebook Official." Our relationships are the driving force of our lives. Parents, children, spouses, boyfriends, girlfriends, and even the best of friends all rely on relationships. But I'm going to ask you about the one relationship that has a profound effect on all of your other relationships: your relationship with Jesus. How is your relationship with your Lord and Savior?

How well do you know Him? Yes, He's the One who left the ninety-nine for the lost sheep. Yes, He's the One who pulls people out of the miry muck and clay. Yes, He's the One who brings dead things back to life. And yes, He's the One who died a brutal, sinner's death all so you could have life. All of those statements are true about Jesus, but anybody who has been to Sunday school would know that. Do you know Him know Him or do you simply know about Him? Have you ever been held in the arms of the Savior? Do you wake up thinking about Him? Do you fall asleep talking to Him? Do you know Him as a Shepherd? As a Father? As a Friend? Is He your ever-present help in times of trouble? Do you hear His voice speaking to you in the silence? Does He speak, "Peace! Be still!" over your storms? Did He give you life, or has He given you life more abundantly?

Where we're at in our relationship with Jesus should be a question we ask ourselves often. You're not questioning your salvation by asking that, you're taking an honest assessment of where you are spiritually. There are different levels to a relationship with Jesus just like there are with people. There are people you barely know and there are people you know intimately. Jesus wants to know you on an intimate level. If you're unsure or want to know Him better than you do now, take a look at James 4:8a, Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. (NKJV). That's a promise to those who want to know Him better. We step, He steps.

If you're walk with the Lord has grown stale and could use a shot of life, simply draw near to Him. Many people know Him as their Deliverer, but He wants to get to know you on a much deeper level. The deeper levels are where the transformation takes place. He loves you so much that He doesn't want to leave you the way He found you.

Oh, what a Friend we have in Jesus!
