"Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying." - Romans 12:12 (NLT).
One of my favorite times of the day is my drive to work. It takes me about 30 to 45 minutes from my house to my job, and I spend that time talking with God. A sister from our church suggested that I spend my daily drive to work talking with God and drawing closer to Him. It's one of the most peaceful moments of my day. I can just speak to Jesus without any distractions or without the worry of someone judging what I say or how I say it.
Sometimes I cry. Sometimes I sit in silence and just listen. Sometimes I praise Him and thank Him. Sometimes I enjoy looking around and appreciating His creation. I invite Him into my vehicle and enjoy feeling His presence all around me. Just this morning, I was driving down the highway and looked up at the clouds. I saw some birds and began thanking Him for all the beauty He's given us to look at and appreciate. I will also pass people on the highway and begin praying that they know the love of Jesus Christ.
In my life I have taken a lot of things for granted. Such as the air in my lungs and the heart that beats in my chest. Now that I am a new creature in Christ, I find that those things I once took for granted are the very things I am thanking Him for the most. The smile on my kids' faces, the conversations with the people I love, and having a safe place to work are the things I am grateful for. I've been on the other side...not able to be around my kids, alone, and no job. I guess not having those things in my life has given me the awareness to appreciate what I have now even more.
There are so many things we can do throughout the day to bring Jesus into our lives and praying on our way to work is one of them. I have also found that when I start the conversation with Him early in the day, the conversation tends to stay ongoing all day long. It doesn't have to be a long prayer. Say a short prayer to just say thanks. I know life gets busy, so set an alarm on your phone to remind yourself to tell Him thank you or anything you need to get off your chest. It's about getting into the habit of talking with Your Lord and Saviour. Even the smallest of things matter to God. If they matter to you, then they matter to Him. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." (KJV).
I saw a post my niece posted on Facebook. It said, "When you're having trouble sleeping it might be because God just wants to have a conversation with you." God just wants to have a conversation with you. When we make God a part of our everyday life and trust Him, life just becomes a lot better. Not perfect, but better. Start trusting God and believing that everything is in His Perfect Will for your life. His timing is perfect and His ways are perfect. I pray that we all could make more time for Jesus. Give Him thanks for His love, His grace, and His Mercy right now. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.
God bless and keep on praying!
