So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. - Romans 10:17 (NLT).

One of the staples of most recovery programs like AA or NA is the necessity to have faith in a "higher power." It's about believing in something greater than yourself that can restore some semblance of sanity back into your life. Before I go any further, I agree with putting your faith in something other than yourself, because the answer lies outside of you. What I don't agree with is the idea that the higher power they speak of can be anything you deem worthy as long as you believe in it.

There is only one higher power who can transform your life, and His Name is Jesus. He's the King of kings and the Lord of lords. He's the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). He is the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, and the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). He alone can restore your sanity. He alone can restore your relationships. He alone can restore you! He is the highest power, and all other powers have to bend the knee to Him.

The definition of faith in the Bible is found in Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (KJV). What is the substance of the things you're hoping for? Living a sober life? Getting your kids back? We all have things we hope for and most of us are lacking the evidence that what we hope for can be attained. That's where our faith in Jesus comes in. Even if you've failed over and over again, even if the case worker says it will be years before you get your kids back, even if no one else believes that you can do it, Jesus can take the tiniest amount of faith and turn it into a miracle. Faith doesn't make life easy; Faith makes life possible!

Romans 10:17, states, So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ. (NLT). Want to have faith? Listen to the Word of God. Want to hear the Word of God? Find a church. Read your Bible. Talk to Jesus, He answers if you listen! Want to make a change in your life? Put your faith in Jesus Christ! Putting your faith and trust in Jesus Christ is the greatest and most important decision you will ever make in your life, but remember, change takes commitment. It takes consistency. It takes keeping the faith. It takes grabbing the hem of Jesus' garment and not letting go.

Hitting the reset button on your life and climbing out of the hole you've created for yourself is not an easy task. Nobody ever said it was, but Jesus and His ability to transform you is the ONLY thing that makes it possible. You will let yourself down. Jesus won't. Other people will let you down. Jesus won't. A little faith can make a big difference in your life! God Bless!
