"I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours." - Mark 11:24 (NLT).
Prayer works. You can't convince me otherwise. I've seen the Lord show up and show out too many times for me not to believe. What atheists think is foolish, Christians know to be fool proof. From needing a job to needing a cure, we serve a Lord and Savior who knows no limits when it comes to caring for His sheep.
Recently, Shevon and I used an online company to file the paperwork to make our ministry a non-profit corporation. It was a big step for us. One that neither of us have any experience with. We filed the paperwork, became incorporated, and then found out we have several more steps to go before getting tax-exempt status. We have a lot going on with our ministry and work, so having any more steps to take for something was starting to seem like an insurmountable mountain.
Has anyone else ever been there? Maybe not in the exact situation, but having more to do on your "to-do list" than having time in the day to do it? Overwhelmed. Heavy laden. Burdened. Demoralized. Swamped. Drowning. Deadlines. Appointments. Meetings. Ugh!! Get the picture? That's how I felt. What could I do? Where could I turn? Then I felt a subtle nudge from the Holy Spirit saying "Pray." When all else fails, pray! So, I did. I prayed that Jesus would send me someone to help and that I would know that this was the person He was sending me. I felt an immediate peace. Less burdened. Free.
Three hours later, I received a phone call from an unknown number. The caller ID said the call was coming from Knoxville, TN. I answered. The man on the other end said he was from the online company we filed our corporation with and that he wanted to help us with filing our tax-exempt status and anything else we needed help with. I asked him for his name. He said, 'Daniel, like from the Bible.' Not, 'Daniel from Knoxville' or 'Daniel last name,' but 'Daniel, like from the Bible.' Well played, Lord. Well played.
Prayer works. You can't convince me otherwise. We serve a God who cares about every detail of our lives. We don't have to walk around being weighed down by everything the world is throwing at us. We just have to ask in faith like our key verse above says. He's the Good Shepherd. Then Jesus said, 'Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.' - Matthew 11:28 (NLT). When life becomes too much, He is ready to come to the rescue. All we have to do is ask and believe. God Bless!
