"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." - Matthew 5:16 (KJV).

We serve a God of action. He loves, He transforms, He comforts, He picks us up when we fall, and He willingly laid His life down for us. King David knew the Lord as a God of action based on the way he called on Him to act in his life: 1. "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." (Ps. 51:10); 2. "He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings." (Ps. 40:2); & 3. "He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake." (Ps. 23:3). David repeatedly called on the Lord to not only actively intervene in his life but thanked Him for all the times He had already acted on his behalf.

I thank the Lord every day for verses like Philippians 1:6, "And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns." - (NLT). Jesus doesn’t get us to a certain point and call us finished; He continues the work within us and through us to help others. He doesn't want us sitting idle on the sidelines.

As Christians serving an active God, we are called to be active servants for Him. Once we've been cleaned, delivered, and restored it is our duty, as Christians, to tell others about the wonderful things the Lord has done and continues to do in our lives. Why? To point others to Him. We are called to be influencers and difference makers. At work and at home. To the strangers in the gas station and the couple living next door. Everything we say and do should reflect the God we serve.

Jesus instructs us in Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (KJV). This is a call to action. Actions speak louder than words! People watch the way we act more than they listen to what we say. Be faithful to your spouse. Be diligent at work. Be the one who doesn't cuss around your friends. "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him." - Colossians 3:17 (KJV). Let your light shine in this dark world!

We do, in fact, serve a God of action. We serve a faithful God who will act on every promise in the Bible. If He says it, He’ll do it! Whether you’ve been living for God for 10 years or 10 days, you can find comfort and hope in knowing that He isn’t finished with you, yet! No matter how dark our current road is, or how bad our circumstances get, we serve a God who will actively intervene in our lives the same way He did for King David. Let’s praise Him for that today! God Bless!
