Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. - Psalm 62:1 (NIV).

Are you feeling tired all the time? A lot of us do. In fact, a recent poll showed that 3 out of 5 Americans feel tired all the time. Some weeks, every day is like a Monday. It's not about the amount of sleep we get, because 8 hours of sleep still leaves us feeling tired and sluggish. Most days we find it hard to get going and coffee just isn't doing the trick anymore. Is there something wrong with us?

Maybe it's not our physical bodies that are tired. Maybe we have to go a little deeper. Maybe it's our souls that are tired. If you find yourself tired all the time and feeling like the pressures of this world are becoming more than you can handle, then listen up! You are not suffering from a lack of down time; you are suffering from a lack of God time!

When we get tired, stressed, and overwhelmed, we tend to get a lot less done and we fall behind on our to-do lists. Some of us double down on our workload to make up for lost time, while some of us double down on our down time to make up for lost sleep, both of which only makes us fall further behind. We will never get ahead when our lives have become too busy to take 5 minutes and shut everything down for some one-on-one time with our Lord and Savior. We serve a sovereign God, but we also serve a God who wants us to hit the pause button in our lives and acknowledge His sovereignty. When we get so busy in the world that we don't stop and take time with the One who holds the whole world in His hands, then we get ourselves out of sync.

True rest isn't found in the absence of busyness, but it's found in the presence of God! When is the last time you sat still and became aware of God's presence around you? When is the last time you sat still and waited on the Lord to renew and refresh your spirit? Isaiah 40:31, But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Make time for God. It's in the presence of the Lord that we will find true rest for our souls. It will refresh you, it will renew you, and it will reignite the fire within you. God Bless!
